"Give Peace A Chance" by John Lennon

In 1969, during the Vietnam war, John Lennon (The Beatles) and Yoko Ono got married and decided to spend their honeymoon in Amsterdam. As they know it would be a great press event, John and Yoko decided to use the publicity to promote world peace. They invited the world's press into their room at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel. After their other stunts, such as the nude cover of the Two Virgins album, the press were expecting them to be having sex, but instead the couple were sitting in bed talking about peace . A reporter asked John what he was trying to do. John said, "All we are saying is give peace a chance," spontaneously, but he liked the phrase and set it to music for the song. He sang the song several times during the Bed-In, and finally, on 1 June 1969, recorded it using a simple setup of four microphones and a four-track Ampex tape recorder rented from RCA Victor in Montreal.
The song quickly became the anthem of the anti-war movement all over the world and it is still sung by a lot of people in anti-war demonstrations.

Irregular verbs list

English irregular verbs are not really as difficult as you think. It is something you can solve if you take some time. As you know we study irregular verbs in three columns: the first one is the infinitive (base form) the second one is the past simple and the third one is the past participle.
You can find some exercises below:

COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE

Comparative:

Ex.: The teacher is older than me.
  • Los adjetivos largos forman el comparativo de superioridad anteponiendo la palabra more y postoniendo la palabra than :
Ex.: A house is more expensive than a car.

Now do the following exercises:

El comparativo de igualdad es igual para todos los adjetivos: as + adjetivo + as :
Ex.: Mary is as intelligent as Ron. / A cat is not as big as a dog.
Do the following exercises:

Superlative:
Ex.: Mike is the oldest in the class.
  • Adjetivos largos: anteponen the most:
Ex.: Mike is the most intelligent student in the class.
  • Adjetivos irregulares: good----the best (el mejor); bad ---- the worst (el peor).

FUTURE: WILL / BE GOING TO

ej.: She is going to come tomorrow.
Se utiliza WILL para predicciones (ej.: it will rain next weekend) y para acciones que se deciden en el momento de hablar (ej.: it is cold so I will close the window). La forma corta de WILL es 'LL .
Para negar se añade simplemente not ( will not = won't): ej.: It will not (won't) rain tomorrow. Y para preguntar, simplemente se antepone will al sujeto, ej.: Will it rain tomorrow?

Se utiliza BE (am / is /are) GOING TO para acciones que ya están planeadas: Next weekend I am going to celebrate my birthday.
Para negar simplemente se añade NOT detrás del verbo to be, ej.: My cousin is not going to come to the party. Y para preguntar, basta con anteponer el verbo to be al sujeto, ej.: Is your cousin going to come to the party?

Now for more information click here to open a grammar web site. When it opens, look at the menu on the left and click on "2nd year - Intermediate" then click on "grammar" and then go to "Future simple" and "To be going to" . Read it and do the exercises.
